General Information

AFCEA International

AFCEA International is a non-profit membership association serving the military, government, industry, and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, information technology, intelligence, and global security. AFCEA supports local chapters, sponsors events, publishes the award-winning SIGNAL Magazine, promotes education, and provides member benefits – all with the purpose of equipping its members to meet government’s challenges and to further their careers. AFCEA and its chapters provide a common ground for learning that is unquestioned in its integrity and unequaled in the reach of its relationships. More than 31,000 members support AFCEA International for the same reason: we help them succeed and enable them to serve.

Education is an AFCEA core value. The Association, in partnership with the AFCEA Educational Foundation, Chapters and members worldwide, presents $1.4 million annually in scholarships, grants and awards to students in the “hard” sciences attending the five service academies, ROTC programs, graduate schools and other educational institutions. The AFCEA Professional Development Center (PDC) complements the Association’s educational efforts by providing a wide-ranging program of continuing educational and technical training courses. The Foundation also sponsors awards and prizes for academic excellence in military schools and training institutions of all of the Services.

AFCEA Lexington-Concord Chapter

The Lexington-Concord Chapter of AFCEA was chartered on September 28, 1960. The chapter consists of more than 800 members, and is the third largest chapter. The membership profile shows approximately 50 percent of the members affiliated with industry, 25 percent with civil service, 20 percent military and five percent from academic institutions.

For over 40 years, the Lexington-Concord Chapter has been supporting students in the Boston area. A key facet of AFCEA's mission is to encourage students to enter science and engineering careers—Defense and non-defense related—because we believe a strong and creative technical workforce is essential to America’s future.

The Chapter offers a full calendar year of both professional and social events that bring the local government, military, industry, academic, and civilian communities of interest together. Proceeds of these events benefit a variety of philanthropic endeavors.
